Contents Page Draft and Explanation

This is the draft for my Contents page. It has the 'Pick' logo in the corner to make it consistant and professional. The layout is very simple and basic so it's easier to read and find what you want to find. I have done this because when i look at a contents page, i don't look at it in detail, i look through the articles and go to what page it says it is on. The image will be a close up 1 male so the magazine is diverse in music as it isn't all bands. There is a music critics column at the bottom to say what is new and good, and what isn't very good. This is helpful for the reader to find new and good music and a magazine should offer as much music as possible.

DPS Draft and Explanation

This is a draft of my double page spread. It isn't very detailed as i'm not sure what i'm going to write in my article yet. But the big image will be in the same venue and costume as the main image, but with a less erious pose showing that they're laughing and having fun. The image on the page of the article will be of one of the members of the band playing their instrument, and there will be another small image of the all of the band together above the big image and it will be of them all playing their instruments as if the photographer has been there when they were recording. I have chose to use this layout as it is something you would find in most magazines so it looks professional.

Front Cover Draft and Explanation

I'm sorry the quality is very bad but i don't have a phone at the minute so i had to take the picture with my laptop, but hopefully you can see the layout pretty clearly. There's little things there you might not be able to see, the lines between the cover lines is to seperate the cover lines but it has the effect of paper being torn so it gives off a different and rebellious attitude. I've decide to scrap the idea of it being by the forest on the main image because it's not something that you would see often on a magazine so it won't look realistic. The masthead is 'PICK' for reasons explained in my blog, and it's inside the shape of a plectrum so it relates to the title and guitar music which my audience will enjoy. The main image will be a picture of a 3 person band with the lead singer in front and the other two equally behind, i would like to have some sort of outside background, maybe in a forest but not so you can see the background but hopefully i will find a white wall to have it against to make it more professional as that is used in a lot of music magazines. Above the main image, i will hopefully have a small image of the drummer from the band recording in mid drumming as if he is rehearsing so the front cover looks professional and gives it more credibility.

Magazine Front Cover Planning Process

I have started to look closer into the planning of magazine front covers now and tried to look deeper into how a cover star is presented. The cover star in this edition of Q magazine is Morrissey and is a very familiar artist. I think that the white background is used so that we maintain our focus on Morrissey as there is nothing else to look at. Also, i think that he is wearing a white shirt so it blends in with the background and we are still maintaining all focus on Morrissey's face. It will be harder for me to think about these things and take them into consideration when i do my magazine front cover because i am having more than 1 cover star and it is being taken outside but i am starting to look deeper into magazines and how they are being planned.

Magazine Font Research

I have looked into what font i'm going to use in my magazine. It is the font that is used for the new yourk rangers american football team and it also looks very similar to the font that is used in Q magazine. I like this font because it is basic and easy to read, but it also is recognisable because it is used often.

This is another font i am considering using in my magazine, it is called 'Big Noodle Titling'. I like this font because it is simple and easy to read. However, the top font has a distinct edge to the font whereas this font doesn't have a edge to it, it is very basic and perhaps it is too basic.

Another font i am considering is this one called 'Octin Sports'. This colour seems alot lighter and the text is thinner but i like the effect it has with the little line over the letters and on the edge of the letters. It could be too thin but i would perhaps make it bolder if i were to use it in my magazine

Images Research

THIS IS NOT ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHY

The top picture is a picture of Cofton park in Birmingham and the bottom picture is of Lickey Hills in Birmingham. These are the two places i am thinking about taking my images for the magazine at. Cofton park is good because of all the greenland and that you can see for miles benhind and it would be good to take a picture of the band and have that behind to make them look so far away and so different because it will come across that the band are unique and so different to everybody else. However, i'm really considering Lickey Hills because i like the fact that it's at the bottom of the trees where little light gets through so it's dark. I like this idea because i would like to give an impression that the band are by the bottom of the trees because the bottom of the trees are as close as they can get to where the trees began and as the band are young i want to imply to the readers that the band are at the early stages of their music career and potential and they are ready to burst into something much bigger.

Contents Page Research

I would like to take this sort of approach into my contents page. In some aspects the main image is something that i would want to use because they are shown in some sort of greenery and the fact that it looks as though it's in some hills where nobody goes and nobody else is there, reveals that they are away from everyone else and different to everyone else, this is something that i would want to take into my magazine. I also like the fact that the layout is so clear and organised. The house colours are used and there are different headlines such as 'FEATURES' and 'REVIEW' help the reader to know where everything is and know what section to look under when they want to find something. I want my reader to have a good and interesting image to look at in the contents page but i want the content to be simple, clear and easy to find because my audience are going to look at the picture to see what it is, and then use the content to simply try and find what they want to see.

Contents Page Analysis

This is a Vibes contents page and this is an example of what i wouldn't want to include in my contents page. This girl is wearing barely any girls. This suggests that it is more about the image than the actual music itself. Also, it is very basic and the lack of colour and text make it look very boring and dull. The clothes she is wearing will not be included in my magazine because i am aiming it at a very different target audience than 'vibe' magazine are aiming at. I wouldn't have a female solo singer featured in my magazine because my target audience wouldn't enjoy that style of music.

Front Cover Planning

This picture is not how i want to come across on my front cover, but there is certain aspects of this image that i might bring into my front cover. Although i don't like his stance and the way that it's so obvious he is posing, i like the way that he has the guitar between his legs to show that him and the guitar are almost inseparable which expresses how much he loves playing and writing his music. Although i don't like his clothes and that's something i won't use, i like the background of the image which is obviously where the picture was taken. As i have previously stated, i want my front cover image to be taken somewhere with trees and grass to make it look as though they are in the woods. I do like the woodland scenery, but i would like it to be darker and the ground to be brown with leaves. Also, instead of the plank of wood that he is sitting on, i would like my band to be either sitting on a park bench, sitting on the floor, or standing up by some trees.

Front Cover Planning

This is a picture of an old fashioned style diadora t shirt. This type of diadora shirt is not made anymore and that's why it is considered as retro. I will wear this because i have said that i want the band to come across as unique, and this makes the band look unique and individual because not alot of people wear this top anymore. Also, this shirt is a size medium and i am a size small. I am deliberately going to wear this too big because again, it makes the band look individual, and also it draws the readers eyes straight to the band members. This is just one possibility and i will update later on another top that i might wear in the picture for the front cover.

Potential Band Names and Organisation

I know that i'm not going to be able to use an actual band name in my magazines for copyright issues. So i have thought of two names i could use for my band:

Flud - I am considering this name because is sounds exactly the same as 'flood' and when a flood happens it is very overpowering and can have a massive affect on peoples lives. Also, the alternative spelling of the name makes the band seem indvidual and unique.

Lense - I am considering this name because lenses help to see things clearer and i want the band to be linked to the fact that they can make their listeners see life and things in life for what they really are through their lyrics and meaningful riffs.

Organisation

I am planning to do some practice photography on tuesday 8th january after school. I will go to digbeth near the Birmingham city centre where they had some white bricked walls that would be good for my background. I am going to use myself because i think that i have the look that i would be aiming at. I'm going to wear a baggy shirt with my sleeves rolled up because that is what the type of audience i'm aiming at would wear and this will appeal to them.

Double Page Spread Research

For my double page spread, i am going to have one side of the page as the picture of the band and the other side of the page will be the article on the band, layed out similarly to what you see in the picture on the left. However, i will have less text because younger people are my target audience and the amount of text in that picture will not attract them to read the whole article. Also,  like the little image of the lead singer at the bottom in the text, it's effective as it draws your eye closer to the article and this is a device i might use in my double page spread.

The image i've been thinking about for my double page spread is something like the two images underneath. I like the idea of a band having a picture in the woods/forest/wilderness because it makes a band look individually and certainly unique as apposed to having a picture in a studio or on the streets. I personally think it makes a band look more outrageous and 'out there' which reflects onto their music, making it look unique which is the effect i want it to have on the reader. I have chosen these two pictures because i would like to base the image i want for my double page spread on these two images. I like the way the woods are in the background in the image with the dog. On the other hand, i love the way bombay bicycle club have used the instruments in the woods making themselves look very different and real at the same time. I also love the idea of the park bench being in the background on the image with bbc and this is something i will definately try and include in my image.

At the moment, it is likely that i will travel up to cofton park and take the picture for my double page spread there in the woods part of it, with the road in the background. I have chosen to do this because it brings the individualism and realism of the band together which will ultimately make the reader like them.

Contents Page Research

I like this contents page becasue i like the idea of the image being one of the cover star/cover stars playing live because we get to see the them in action and it will make the reader wonder where they're playing and read the magazine to see more pictures from the show and see how the show went. Also, i like the idea of the image being the main focus in the middle and then the other information being on the sides of the contents page. I also like the way the house colours are used in the contents page to make it look official and professional. I also love the way that the preview section is in a different colour and the colour is gold. This is effective because it stands out from the rest of the contents page and the fact that it's in gold suggests that it is really important.

Publication Plan (Draft)

This is a draft of my Publication Plan. It shows what i have decided to include

PUBLICATION PLAN

Your Magazine:

I didn't include one in my practise magazine front cover but I know now that I need to include a Selling line. I might use 'UK's top Indie mag'. It will be a monthly magazine and I will charge £4.00 for my magazine.

Rationale:

My magazine will include interviews from some well known Rock/Indie Bands. It will also include upcoming festival information such as Glastonbury and Reading. I might also have a section for young and upcoming bands so people will buy it to see what new music is coming on to the scene.

Style:

My magazine will be aimed at males and females aged 14-30. It will be aimed at people who like Rock/Indie music and people who are interested in music festivals.

Regular Content:

I had an idea to feature a different band each month that are on tour and the same questions will be asked to each band. These questions will be like: What is the craziest thing that has happened on tour? Which one of the band members is the worst to live and travel with? What are your plans for the future? This way the readers will get to know their favourite bands more so they would be more likely to buy it as they get to know more about popular bands each month.

House Style:

I will keep the same house style throughout the magazine so the magazine looks professional but recognisable at the same time. I don't know my particular style yet but I know i will keep the same font style, size of the font and colour of the magazine throughout the magazine.

Contents Page:

My contents page will feature a different picture of the cover stars (maybe a picture of them playing live) to emphasize that they are the main selling point of the magazine.

Double Page Spread:

One half of the double page spread will be an image of a different band, perhaps doing funny poses or laughing together to make the reader want to read the article on the other side of the double page to see what they found so funny or why they're so happy.

Target Audience Questionnaire

I created a questionnaire to try and target a specific audience. I asked 20 people 5 questions so that I can take it into consideration and sell more copies of my magazine. Here is what I did.

1. What is your favourite style of music?

a) Rock/Indie
b) RnB
c) Rap/Grime
d) Pop/Hip Hop
e) Other

7 people said Rock/Indie, 5 people said Pop/Hip Hop, 5 people said RnB, 1 person said Rap/Grime and 2 people said Other. This is good for me as Rock/Indie is my favourite music as well so i know what to include. I also buy Rock/Indie magazines occasionally so it will be easier to know how to lay it out and what sorts of bands to include. This has helped me to target the audience as i know to use the most popular music genre which is Rock/Indie.

2. How often do you buy music magazines?

a) Never
b) Once a week
c) Once a fortnight
d) Once a month
e) Once a year

8 people said Once a month, 4 people said Once a fortnight, 3 people said Once a year, 3 people said Once a week, 2 people said Never. This has helped to target my audience and make it as popular and credible as popular because I now know that most people buy magazines monthly so I will make my magazine a weekly magazine.

3. How much are you willing to pay for a magazine?

a) £0 - £0.99
b) £1.00 - £2.49
c) £2.50 - £4.99
d) £5.00 - £7.49
e) £7.50 +

9 people said £2.50 - £4.99, 6 people said £1.00 - £2.49, 4 people said £5.00 - £7.49, 1 person said £0.00 - £0.99, 0 people said £7.50. This has really helped me to choose what price tag to put on my magazine because with this information I know what the most popular amount to pay for a magazine is. I will charge people £3.99 for my magazine because that was pretty much half way through the most popular choice in this question.

4. What makes you want to buy a magazine?

a) Cover star/Cover stars
b) Music genre of magazine
c) Cover lines/featured articles
d) Colour
e) Other

10 people said Music genre, 6 people said Cover star/Cover Stars, 2 people said Colour, 2 people said Cover lines/featured articles, 0 people said Other. This was a question that I deliberately used because i wanted to see what was more important, either Music Genre or Cover Star/Cover stars. Even though these two will come together to target a specific audience, the language that would be used by 'Rockers' and 'Indie' people can be used and a slightly less 'Rocky' cover star could be used to target a wider range of audiences' and this is a device I might use.

5. What colours would you like to see in a magazine?

a) Black
b) Red
c) Green
d) White
e) Other

9 people said Red, 6 people said white, 3 people said green, 0 people said Black and 2 people said other. I think the most popular choice was red because that is the colour that is most frequently used in Rock/Indie magazines which was the most popular genre in this questionnaire. I think 6 people said white because the white background would make you focus more on the cover star/cover stars and emphasize their importance and popularity. I am undecided between Red and White so I might try and mix the two together, this has been helpful to pick the colour of my magazine and the colour is very important because it is an important feature of a front cover which is what people will look at when deciding to buy the magazine.

My Practice Magazine Cover Feedback

I got the class to fill out a sheet to tell me they're opinions of my practice magazine front cover.

Positives:

Frequent comments suggests that the original photography was good and the fact that i had a guitar made it look like it would appear on the front cover of NME magazine. Also, i have had a number of comments saying that i have used most of the codes and conventions which is good.

Improvements:

I have had comments saying that i could of used direct mode of address. Also, i could have tried to experiment with the font or researched into existing NME magazines and used the fonts they have used. I have also been told not to use page numbers as they are not used in previous NME magazines so that piece of advice should be very helpful in the future.

Self Assessment:

It was a decent attempt. Looking at the magazine, i think that the dark background, the size of the image and the lack of direct address contributes to it not looking realistic. I now realise that the font is quite basic and i personally feel that the text is a little too big and should be reduced. The photography is blurred and fails to show much of the cover star. However, the feedback from my classmates and leaving it a few days and analysing it again has helped me to see the bad points of my magazine cover a lot clearer and i'll take it all on board.

Music Genre Research

These bands are jaws, peace, swim deep and splashh. The look of these bands are all very similar. They all wear baggy clothing to make themselves look very individual. Alot of them also turn their jeans up so that you can see their socks. This also makes them look individual and it would intrigue a reader to be interested in what sort of music they would play. As you can see they all have longish hair, this suggests that they play indie music as you wouldn't see a lot of rappers with long hair. This is the look i want to go for in my magazine because i think it looks cool and it also makes the magazine that bit more interesting and unique compared to any other music magazine.

My Music Magazine Draft (done on word and imported into publisher)

I have done this to practice photography and including the codes and conventions of a magazine. The only thing that i haven't done myself on this is the 'NME' title. This has got me to consider linking the cover lines, the main cover line and the other conventions and how the colour of the photography and the cover lines link and look good.

Possible Magazine Name

Possible magazine name:

1. PICK

This would be a good name for my magazine as it sort of suggests that it's the best magazine to 'PICK'.
However, it also links to what guitarists call their plectrums, and this links to the genre of music I want to
    illustrate (electric guitar music).

2. AMP

This would be good because everyone who likes guitar music will take note of this and read the
magazine, so the name would help target a suited audience.

3. BANG

This would be a good name for my music magazine because it emplies that the genre is going to be rock
and quit heavy. Also it's quite catchy, and again it helps to target my specific audience.

Front Cover, Contents Page and Double Page Spread Analysis

This is 'vibe' magazine. A modern magazine aimed at the youth who listen to rap music and rnb music. This magazine is clearly aiming at the specific target audience as the cover star would be well know by the target audience. Also the target audience would be associated with the 'snapback' cap that chris brown is wearing and the youth are also associated with chains and and 'bling'. His posture shows an attitude and this helps to appeal to the target audience as teenagers are often associated with being rebellious and having attitude problems and being and looking very miserable, which is how the cover star looks. The phrase 'fell of' found in one of the cover lines is a slang term for dying out. This shows that it's targeting a specific audience through language, and they're using this technique to engage the reader and o the reader can relate to the magazine. The contents page is mainly filled with a picture of a fairly young person, again with a cap and chains, this re inforces the image they're looking to create. Also the tattoos' also suggests a rebellious attitude as this is aimed at younger people and when you are younger, getting a tattoo is either frowned upon or illegal. In comparison to the 'classical fm' magaizine, you would find a man with a suit on and tidy hair, this you see him with no shirt on and a cap on. This shows how the look, outfit and posture differentiates music genre and target audiences'. Although the double page spread contains alot of text, it shows an image of a young girl with a short dress and big hair. This would attract the audience as the girl in the image is good looking and is showing off her legs and teenage boys would have alot of interest in that. Moreover, the images of her in the background suggests that she is dancing and having a good time, this would link to the target audience as it reflects the teenage social life of going to parties and dressing up for them (mainly girls) and also going to night clubs, where you dance and have a good time

Front Cover, Contents Page and Double Page Spread Analysis

This is 'classical fm' magazine. The cover star looks very smart, her hair is tidy and her face is very clear. This links with the whole of the front cover as it is neat and tidy. The text font is very clear and easy to read, the plain background makes everything seem very sophisticated. The features in this magazine are all classical music related and the images about the main cover line 'composers at war' suggest this whole idea of being very sophisticated. The language of 'father of the nocturne' suggests that it is aimed at an upper class and adults as the higher classes and adults would use the phrase 'father' and lower classes and most children would use the phrase 'dad'. Just by looking at the two examples of contents pages you can see that it is aimed at a very traditional audience and an older audience as the white background and the easy to read font makes it simple to read and this would suit an older audience. The images clearly target a higher class and older audience just by the images in the contents pages. You can see a man in a suit straight away on one of them and this will straight away appeal to the higher class because they are more likely to wear them for either casual wear or to work. The other one shows two men at a piano, this helps to target the higher classes and older people as they are more likely  to listen to piano music than music with electric guitars and drums in. The double page spread shows one half of text and the other of a man in a suit with violins in the background. Violins are usually played by the higher classes so this would straight away aim at higher classes. The text looks very small and this would also help to target the specific audience as the targeted audience would be interested to read more as opposed to a sun newspaper reader which would contain very little text. The simplicity of the font again helps to aim at an older audience as they wouldn't want fancy font where they would struggle to read.

Music Magazines' Different Genres and their Target Audiences'

This is the front cover to a 'kerrang' magazine, a well known rock music magazine. The cover star is the lead singer of Green day, a famous punk/rock band. This magazine is clearly aimed at teenagers who are interested in rock music. We can see this as the cover star is dressed very 'rebelliously' with his shirt undone quite far down and his tie far down as well. We see his hair extremely messy which again promotes this rebellious attitude he is giving us, this would not be appropriate to most adults as they would not dress like this or find this look very enticing. Also, it has 'WTF?!' as a cover line. This is promoting the idea that it is aimed at teenagers as this is the type of slang that would be used on social networking websites, which is predominantly filled with younger people. Moreover, the smashed glassed affect on the masthead further promotes this idea of representing a look which would appeal to teenagers as the type of audience this magazine is aimed would be people who want to be different from everybody else and dress different also. The effect of the masthead makes it look like it has major imperfections. This links to the cover star as his hair is scruffy and his buttons are undone and his tie is down his chest. The title of the magazine links to the music genre of the magazine as 'kerrang' would be the sound a guitar makes when you strum it, and the genre of the magazine would involve electric guitars, this helps to create a target audience by cleverly hinting that is aimed at that specific sort of music in the title.

This is the front cover to a 'classical music' magazine. The way the cover star is dressed clearly creates a target audience straight away just by looking at the magazine. He is dressed very formally, in a suit with his hair put back neatly and his posture (sitting with his legs crossed) creates a very sophisticated look and is purposely there to target at a sophisticated audience. It is most likely aimed at an upper class and adults as that sort of people are more likely to wear that sort of clothing as oppose to teenagers and lower classes. The way the 'C' in classical is presented makes it look as though it is handwritten. This helps to aim the magazine at a more sophisticated and older audience because makes it seem more traditional.

I have shown the classical music magazine because it's not what i want to do in mine. I don't want to have the man or men in my magazine dressed formally. On the other hand, i have included the kerrang magazine cover because i would like to go for that messy and untidy effect. I like the fact that it's not bright and colourful but it's not dark at the same time so it gives off an edgy atmosphere and it looks raw and rebellios and would be aimed at younger people, which is what my target audience will be in my magazine.

Image Evaluation

This is a picture of the band 'The Jam'. The image of the band is widely known as the 'mod' look. This is the image that i will be going for in my magazine. You can see one of the members wearing a green/brown coat known as a 'parka', this coat resemble the mod look that they are going for and it demonstrates what sort of music they play and what their target audience is. The man in the middle has a leather jacket on, skinny trousers and is having a cigarette. This helps to enhance the 'mod' look they're going for because that's what 'mods' would wear and do at that time. You notice that all three of the members have skinny trousers on and longish haircuts, this is the sort of image/genre i will be using in my magazine.

Self Assessment of 'Practice Magazine Cover' Tasks

1. Have you justified your decisions on your blog?
I have not completed this, i have completed thr potential magazine covers that i was asked to do.

2. How could you make these blog entries better?
M: I could have used a more exciting font and colour for the cover lines and main cover lines. I also could have used less text, it looks quite cramped on the page and i will take this on board when i do my music magazine.
Film X: Again, i feel like i could have used less text on the page as it does look quite cramped. I have difficulty with the main cover line as i was contemplating where to put it and what font i should use. I think it does like quite un-professional and have received feedback from my peers and my teacher so this has helped me to see what i should have done. I do like the cover lines but i think the multi colouring in the text at the top also looks un-professional, this was an experiment that i was contemplating including in my own magazine but after receiving feedback i will probably opt against that device.
Freedom: I did find this hard because of the background. After analysing the magazine in more detail i see that the eye breaking through the barcode suggests the fact that we are always being watched. i have done it based only on Big Brother but i realize now that i could have based it on the troubles with cctv or surveilance issues. I found it hard with the colour of the main cover line but i do feel i chose the best colour. This task was useful because it helped me to see what challenges i am going to face when i complete my magazine.
Pitch: I was really dissappointed with my completion of this magazine cover. I found it very difficult doing this cover, i think i placed the main cover line in the wrong place, the font wasn't suitable and the colour wasn't very good either. This hgas helped me to realise what i don't want to include in my magazine, i really didn't like the colours of the template so i probably wan't include those sorts of colours in my magazine.

Practice Magazine Cover

The last two 'Practice Magazine Cover's i have found quite difficult. I have also been told that i have been packing too much text so i have tried to put less text in. I am still in the process of trying to find my magazine layout and style but these tasks that i have chose to do have defnitely helped me.

Practice Magazine Cover

I have added the the cover lines and main cover lines. I found this template difficult due to the back ground colour and i would probably not use this colour in my magazine. This task was useful because it has helped me to take on a more difficult task but also realize what i don't want to include in my magazine.

Practice Magazine Cover

Again, i was given the template and i added the cover lines and the main cover line. Again, i did all the writing. This cover is from a film, howeve i edited it and gave my own twist to show that i can think of titles and cover lines for myself.

Practice magazine Cover

This is my practice for a magazine cover, i was given the template and i had to add the cover lines and main cover lines. I did all the writing on this.

NME Special Edition Analysis

I did some more research into the NME magazine and found this 50 year special. It shows a blank canvas with Liam Gallagher standing looking away from the camera. The fact that it's a special edition and the background is blank brings all the attention to Liam. It also ahows his attitude, that he likes to be centre of attention, this is enhanced by the fact he is holding a newspaper with his face on. I might use the blank background to bring the attention towards my cover star because it makes it look like the cover star is even bigger than the magazine.

Practice Front Cover

I've included cover lines, A main cover line and a pug. I've tried to link everything back to the two main colours of the magazine to make it look more consistant. The cover star is using a direct mode of adress looking directly at the camera, The masthead is familiar and the imperfection of the lettering for 'VIBES' give us the impression tat the magazine expresses a certain attitude and rebellious side. I have briefly analysed and made this into a magazine using my own cover lines, main cover lines and a pug. This is to show me attempting a magaazine cover at an early stage.

Oasis / The Enemy Image Evaluation

As you can see from these two images i really like the effect that the black and white colouring has on a bands appearance. I would like to use the device of black and white because i think it instantly makes a band look more cool. I think it somehow makes the band more appealing as it blocks the colour out and keeps everything simple, i think this is used to show that the colour and surroundings are not important, it's only the band and their music that are important, that's also why i think the surroundings are very dull and ordinary. And it also makes the bands look very cool. That's why i want to use this device. I like both of these images in seperate ways. I like the fact that Oasis have serious poses to represent that bad boy image they have. However, i also like the relaxed tone that The Enemy have. It shows them sitting down in a very ordinary room just laughing and smiling. This represents the unity of the band and the fact that they love making music and that's their passion. I'm going to try and combine these two images by either having my band people leaning up against the walls laughing showing very relaxed, happy and loveable characters, or i will have them sitting down against a wall with serious poses or straight faces not looking directly looking at the camera to demonstrate a rebellious and bad boy image.

NME Layout

My magazine will be similar to NME in many different aspects. For instance, my magazine will have the same music genre and i would like the front page layout to be similar to NME. You can see in the imagine that it looks very compact and it looks like there's alot on the page. I like this idea and i would like to use this device as it implies that there is alot inside the magazine and lots of different topics. This would appeal more to a buyer than a magazine with lots of white space for the reason i just stated, and that it would look boring and bland. Whereas the NME magazine looks vibrant and really interesting and it's almost like the cover is right in your face urging you to read inside.
